1290 book of hours page, as indicated by the original folio fine art ltd label, written in Paris in Latin. This label ceritifies the manuscript as genuine with a stock number.
Written on a extremely fine vellum, both sides hold great condition and a number which could indicate the page of the book it was taken from, or a prayer.
This leaf is from a "Book Of Hours", christian prayer books written to guide individual worship during the cannonical hours.
The leaf was stored in a frame, which has been removed to reveal the folio fine art label and original mounting.
Such an early peice of scripture is remarkable, especially with provenance.
The writing of this manuscript, and perhaps it's yet untranslated text, coencides with the 1290 miricle of Paris
"Easter Sunday, April 2, 1290, a man named Jonathas, who hated the Catholic Faith and did not believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist, was able to gain possession of a consecrated Host. The man stabbed the Host with a knife and the Host began to bleed. The Blood filled the container in which he had placed the Host. Panic-stricken, the man decided to throw the Blessed Sacrament into the fire, but the Host miraculously arose from the fire"
